Quick Verdict

Understand the Screen Actors Guild's mandatory daily report for actors, from work times to meal breaks and overtime.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG/AFTRA) is an international union whose rules every producer, assistant director, UPM, and director should be well acquainted with. The Exhibit G is a daily time report that tracks the specific hours an actor works on set and ensures compliance with SAG/AFTRA agreements.

What is an Exhibit G?

An Exhibit G is a mandatory form used on SAG-AFTRA signatory productions. It provides a daily snapshot of an actor’s hours and activities:

  • W (Worked): A standard day of filming.
  • R (Rehearsal): A scheduled rehearsal day.
  • F (Finished): The actor's final day on the project.
  • S (Started): The actor's first day.
  • H (Hold): A day when an actor is under contract but not scheduled to work.
  • T (Test): A fitting or test day.
  • TR (Travel): A day when an actor is traveling to or from a distant location.
  • FT (Fitting): A day when an actor is being fitted for costumes.

Tracking Times with Precision

The Exhibit G must track several key times for each actor:

  • Work Time: When the actor reported to the set or basecamp.
  • Meals: When the actor was given their lunch and dinner breaks.
  • Travel Time: How long it took to get the actor to and from their home or hotel.
  • Signatures: Every actor must sign the Exhibit G at the end of their day to verify that the recorded times are accurate.

The Importance of Compliance

Ensuring that actors are paid correctly and within the rules of their union or guild is critical to a production’s financial health. If an actor is not given their required meal breaks or is worked beyond their contracted hours, the production will be liable for penalties and overtime.

The Exhibit G is the primary source of truth for the production office when processing cast payroll and ensuring that all SAG-AFTRA rules are followed.
