How to build a shot list

The Shotlist page is where the director and DP plan coverage scene by scene. Storiara doesn't suggest shots; every shot on the list is one you add. Shots then become strips you can place on the Schedule.

Steps

1. Open Shotlist under Coordinating. Scenes are listed in script order, and the Scenes panel on the left jumps to any scene.
2. On a scene's header, click Add Shot.
3. In Add New Shot, confirm the Scene and enter a Shot Name, like "Maya's POV of the door".
4. Choose a Category. The list runs from Establishing Shot, Master Shot, and Wide Shot (WS) through Medium Close-Up (MCU), Close-Up (CU), Insert Shot, Point of View (POV), Over the Shoulder (OTS), and Two Shot, to B-Roll, Special Effect (SFX), and Other.
5. Add a Description (Optional) with lens, movement, or blocking notes.
6. Click Add Shot. Shots are numbered by scene, so the second shot in scene 14 is 14.2.
7. Hover a shot and click the pencil to open Edit Shot Details, where you can change the name, category, and description and use Upload Image to attach a storyboard frame or reference still. Click Save Changes.
8. Drag shots to reorder them inside a scene. The arrows icon (Move to another scene) moves a shot to a different scene, and the trash icon deletes it.
9. Click a shot's location to set where it shoots in Edit Location.

Seeing and printing the list

Tick Show Images in the toolbar to add an image column, and pick a Ratio (16:9, 2.39:1, 1.85:1, 4:3, or 1:1) so frames display at your aspect ratio. The printer icon (Print Shotlist) prints the list, with images if Show Images is on.

Getting shots onto the schedule

The calendar icon on a shot (Schedule this shot) points you to Schedule. There, unscheduled shots wait in a bar above the stripboard, grouped by scene. Click one, pick the day under Select Day and a Duration, and click Schedule Shot.

A scene with shots can't be carried through a script version switch, so finish revisions before a big shot list pass.

If it doesn't work

• "No Narrative Breakdown Found" means the story has no scenes yet. Import a script or add scenes first.
• If an uploaded image doesn't show in the list, turn on Show Images.
• The unscheduled shots bar on Schedule only appears once the production schedule has dates.
