How to invite collaborators to a story

Collaborators are people who log in and work in the story with you: a producer, a 1st AD, a DP, an accountant. Cast and crew you enter on the Cast & Crew page are not collaborators. They can't log in, and they get call sheets and availability forms by email instead.

The story owner and collaborators with the Producer role can invite. Template stories can't be shared.

Steps

1. Go to My Stories and find the story card.
2. Click Manage (or Collaborators, depending on your role) to open Manage Access.
3. Type the person's email in Invite by Email and press Enter or click the arrow.
4. If they have a Storiara account, their name appears. Open Select Role and choose Producer, Assistant Director, Cinematographer, Department Head, Accountant, or Custom Role.
5. Click Add as Collaborator. Story Shared confirms it, and they're emailed.
6. Check People on this story to see them listed with their role.

When the person isn't on Storiara yet

The dialog says "User not found. Send an invitation to join Storiara." Choose a role under Select Intended Role and click Send Invitation. That emails them an invitation, but it doesn't add them to the story. Once they've signed up, search their email again and click Add as Collaborator.

Picking a role

Roles decide which sidebar sections someone can use. In short, Producer reaches everything including the budget, Assistant Director gets Planning and Coordinating, Cinematographer gets Coordinating, Department Head gets Planning, and Accountant gets Budget and Funding. Setting collaborator permissions has the full table and the custom option.

If it doesn't work

• "You cannot add yourself as a collaborator to your own story" means the email you typed is on your own account.
• "Already Shared" means they're already listed under People on this story.
• If an invited person signed up but can't see the story, they were invited but never added. Search their email and add them.
• No Manage button? Only the owner can change roles. Ask the owner, or a producer on the story, to add people.
