How to upload a new script version

Each story keeps a list of script versions, and one is active. Uploading a revised draft makes it the active version and re-pulls the production plan from it. Pulled scenes, locations, cast, assets, and effects are deleted and pulled again, while items you added or edited by hand are kept.

Storiara doesn't compare drafts or track revision colors. Treat a new version as a fresh pull.

Clear the blockers first

A version switch is refused while the current scenes have work hanging off them. Storiara lists the reasons in a Can't switch script versions yet dialog. Expect it if any of these are true:

• scenes or shots are already on the stripboard
• a scene has shots on the Shotlist
• something you added by hand (a character, prop, wardrobe item, location, effect) is linked to one of the current scenes

In practice, switch versions before you start scheduling, or clear the stripboard and shots first.

Steps

1. On My Stories, find the story card and click Edit.
2. In Edit Story Details, scroll to Scripts. The current draft carries an Active badge, with its upload date and who uploaded it.
3. Click Upload Script and choose the revised .pdf, .docx, or .fdx file.
4. When Re-pull content from this script? appears, read the warning and click Continue.
5. Look for Script Version Activated. The story becomes the selected story and the progress banner shows the new pull.
6. Close the dialog, or click Save Story Changes if you also edited the title, genre, or tags.

To go back to an earlier draft, click that version in the Scripts list. You get the same confirmation and the same blockers. The X beside a version takes it off the list once you click Save Story Changes.

If it doesn't work

• "Still pulling from the current script" means the last pull hasn't finished. Wait for the banner to clear, then try again.
• If the blocker list names a scheduled scene, remove it from the day on Schedule. For shots, delete or move them on Shotlist.
• "Script Too Large" means the new draft passes 1,000,000 characters.
• Nothing changed after upload? Check that you clicked Continue in the confirmation. Cancelling leaves the old version active.
