How to upload a parking map to a location

A parking map saves the location manager from answering "where do the trucks go" forty times. In Storiara it's an image stored on the location record, separate from the location photos, and anyone on the story who can see Locations can open it from the location's card.

Get the map ready

It has to be an image file, such as JPG or PNG. PDFs aren't accepted, so export or screenshot a PDF map first. A marked-up satellite screenshot works well: crew park, work trucks, base camp, and the walk to set, each labeled. Storiara compresses the image to about 1600 pixels on its longest side, so keep labels large enough to read at that size.

Steps

1. Open Locations and find the location.
2. Click Edit on its card.
3. Scroll to Parking Map (Optional).
4. Click Upload Parking Map and choose the image. A preview appears.
5. Check the preview. Use Replace Map to swap in a different file or Remove to clear it.
6. Click Update Location. The upload happens when you save.

On the location card, View Parking Map now opens the image full size. In list view the link reads Parking Map.

Where it doesn't show up

The parking map isn't attached to call sheets or printed location lists. On the call sheet, parking is entered as text in the logistics fields: Set Crew Park, Set Tech Trucks, Set Basecamp, Set BG Holding, and Set BG Parking. A common approach is to type the crew park address there and add a line telling people the map is on the location in Storiara, or to share the call sheet link alongside the image.

If it doesn't work

• "Invalid File Type" means the file isn't an image. Convert the PDF to JPG or PNG.
• "Upload Failed" usually means the connection dropped during save. Click Edit again and re-upload.
• If the map isn't on the card after saving, check that you clicked Update Location and not Cancel.
• Labels hard to read after upload: the image was scaled down. Crop to the area around set before uploading.
