How to read the Day Out of Days

The Day Out of Days shows, for each cast member, which shoot days they work, hold, or are off. Storiara fills it in from the stripboard, so it's only as accurate as the schedule and the character assignments behind it.

Steps

1. Open Schedule and click Day-Out-Of-Days in the view switcher.
2. Read across a row. The columns are # (cast rank), Name, Role (the characters they're assigned to), one column per shoot day labeled Day 1, Day 2 and so on with the date, and Total.
3. Check the DOOD Code Key above the grid if a code is unfamiliar.
4. To change a code, click the cell. In Override DOOD Code, pick the code you want. A small dot marks the cell as overridden.
5. To undo an override, click the cell and choose Reset to Auto.

How the codes are filled in

A cast member counts as working on a day when a scene with their character is scheduled on it. From there:

• the first work day is SW (start work) and the last is WF (work finish)
• a single work day is SWF
• work days in between are W
• days between their first and last work day when they aren't working are H (hold)
• days before they start and after they finish are I (idle)

T (travel), R (rehearsal), WD (work-drop), PW (pickup-work), PWF (pickup-work-finish), and SR (start-rehearsal) are never filled in automatically. You set them by hand.

Here's a worked example on a 10-day shoot. An actor has scenes on Days 2, 3, and 7. Storiara shows Day 1 as I, Day 2 as SW, Day 3 as W, Days 4 to 6 as H, Day 7 as WF, and Days 8 to 10 as I. Total counts every code except I and WD, so it reads 6: three work days and three holds. Whether you can drop the actor after Day 3 and pick them up on Day 7 instead of paying holds depends on their agreement. The drop/pickup entry explains the idea.

The budget uses the same paid-day total for cast lines.

If it doesn't work

• "No shooting days scheduled yet" means there's no production schedule and nothing on the stripboard.
• A row of all I usually means the person isn't assigned to a character. Assign them on the Cast & Crew page.
• Missing someone? Only people on the Cast tab appear. Crew, locations, and gear aren't in this grid.
