How to create a class for students

Classes are Storiara's education mode. An instructor creates a class, students join with a six-character code, and joining gives each student full access while they're enrolled. The instructor posts assignments and opens students' submitted projects. There's no grading inside Storiara, so marks stay in your school's system.

My Classes only appears in the sidebar for accounts on an Instructor plan. Without one, the page shows Instructor Workspace Access and a link to upgrade in settings.

Create the class

1. Click My Classes in the sidebar.
2. Click New Class, or Create First Class if this is your first.
3. In Create a New Class, type a Class Name that includes the term, like "Production 210 - Spring 2027", so students with two classes pick the right one.
4. Click Create Class. The confirmation shows the join code.
5. On the Class Info & Roster tab, find Invite Join Code under Classroom Details and click the copy icon. You'll see Code Copied.
6. Put the code in your syllabus or LMS announcement, along with a link to how to join a class.

As students join, they appear under Enrolled Students with their name and email. Remove takes a student out of the class and drops their account back to free-plan limits.

Post an assignment

1. Open the Assignments tab.
2. Fill in Assignment Title (for example "Project 2: Shoot plan and stripboard"), Description & Instructions, and Due Date.
3. Choose a Submission Type: Storiara Story Project or File Upload (PDF, Doc, Image). It can't be changed after posting.
4. Click Post Assignment.

Under Assignment Schedule, each assignment lists Submissions Turned In, marks late ones with Late, and has View to open a student's project or file. Opening a project loads the student's story into your workspace, so you can walk their stripboard or budget the same way you would your own.

If it doesn't work

• Instructor Workspace Access instead of your classes means the account isn't on an Instructor plan.
• A student reports "Class is Full": the class has hit the seat count on your subscription. Add seats or remove students who dropped.
• A student reports "Invalid Code": check for typos. Codes are letters and numbers only.
• Yes, Delete Class removes the class and reverts every student's account to the free plan, so wait until grades are in.
